The Bliss Charity School is a voluntary-aided primary school with single form entry and a total of 182 pupils. The school is located in the heart of the community on the green in the picturesque rural village of Nether Heyford in West Northamptonshire. Our voluntary-aided status provides an autonomy and independence rarely found.

Office Administrator
We are looking for a warm, organised and experienced Office Administrator to play a key role in the smooth day‑to‑day running of our busy primary school office. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a child‑centred environment and who takes pride in offering a professional, welcoming and supportive service to pupils, families, staff and visitors.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong administrative experience—particularly those who have previously worked in a school, healthcare, customer‑facing, or fast‑paced administrative setting.
Preferred hours are from 8am until 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am until 3:30 on a Friday. We would also require the post-holder to work on 5 INSET days as well as and at least an additional 5 days spread across the school holidays. There would also be a requirement to work during parents’ evenings and at some, pre-arranged, after school/evening events. Whilst we welcome conversations with anyone considering this position, an early start in the day is a necessity.

Key Responsibilities
The post‑holder will be a central part of our front‑office team and will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the school by leading on:
• Front‑of‑House & Reception Duties
Providing a warm welcome to children, parents, staff and visitors; managing enquiries in person, via phone and email; ensuring the reception area reflects the friendly and professional ethos of the school.
• Administrative Support
Carrying out a range of administrative tasks, including maintaining pupil records, processing correspondence, preparing letters and newsletters, supporting admissions and attendance processes, and ensuring efficient day‑to‑day office organisation.
• Safeguarding & Visitor Management
Ensuring visitors are welcomed and signed in safely; following safeguarding procedures; managing access control systems; supporting the school in maintaining a secure and safe environment for pupils.
• Communication & Liaison
Acting as a key contact point for parents and staff; relaying messages efficiently; supporting the Headteacher and wider team with communication tasks, including updates to school systems.
• Operational & Administrative Compliance
Supporting compliance with school policies and procedures; assisting with routine data returns; maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates:
- Strong administrative experience, ideally within a school or other busy front‑office environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm, calm and professional manner.
- High levels of organisation, accuracy and reliability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence using digital systems, such as Microsoft Office, MIS platforms, email and communication tools.
- A positive, proactive approach to the varied and fast‑paced nature of school life.
- A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and high standards of professionalism at all times.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to the wider life of the school.
