Bang the Drum
This term (Sept - Dec 2016) classes 5 and 6 are going to be involved in the Bang the Drum 2016 project.
In 2014 as part of the fantastic Street Child World Cup - Road to Rio Samba Project which was organised by World Music Specialists, Inspire-Works, our school were part of the 1,675 children who broke the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Samba Band at the Royal Albert Hall in London. As part of the project our school raised over three thousand pounds for street children all over the world.
BANG THE DRUM 2016 is a new project that will unite drummers of all ages and abilities across the UK and the globe, to support the rights of an estimated 150 million street children worldwide.
Bringing together drummers of all ages and abilities from across the globe, the event takes place on Monday 3rd October 2016 at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and will include the world record attempt for the World’s Largest Drumming Lesson. We will be part of 2000 children playing drums together. Up to 15,000 children throughout the UK and other countries across the globe will join via a live stream on YouTube. For further information please go to www.inspire-works.co.uk
During the project, as well as learning to play a specially commissioned piece of music, the children will learn about the work of the Street Child United Charity. They will also be working towards gaining their Trinity Arts Award Discover.
This is a fantastic, and possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity for the children and to make sure that we break the Guinness World Record it is important that they all attend.
